Overheard

After the outdoor movie showing of "Nightmare Before Christmas" on Memorial Glade:

"Oh, I don't know, what does happen in real life? ...Failed midterms."
Pause. "Failed midterms and chem labs."

Not even one month later

Everything Fades.

I will bring my camera with me everywhere. I will bring my camera with me everywhere. I will bring my camera with me everywhere. I will bring my camera with me everywhere. I will bring my camera with me everywhere. I will always have a battery charged. I will always have one memory card with free space. I will bring my camera with me everywhere. I will bring my camera with me everywhere so that when Epic Adventure happens on a whim, so perfectly, symmetrically, fatefully, involving a cat named Monet, orange shirts and found tennis balls, crashed weddings and forty five minute contemplative silences, I will be able to document that the sunlight and shadows moved across us as we moved across the Berkeley hills into the night.

Introductions

There's nothing like college to make you freefall into a mid-life crisis about twenty five years too soon, as you realize your life is passing you by quite quickly yet you still haven't done anything meaningful, let alone figure out what you might want to do meaningful in the future, and what the hell are you going to do because the administration is sending you increasingly threatening emails telling you to declare a major or you're blocked from registering for classes next semester.

I say most of that jokingly. No threatening emails yet, although there's no reason I can't anticipate them coming. I'm here because of a simple directive that seemed to resonate with me yesterday afternoon: "Keep a sketchbook and start blogging." I thought about the notebooks upon notebooks of doodles and drawings squirreled away up on my shelf and thought, why yes, I will use this one sliver of life wisdom as an excuse to put those sketches in the most public of public domains, teh internetz.

Indeed. I've decided to start a blog, just like every other internet-addled person on the planet who thinks their life is important enough to be spewed about for everyone to see. Expect to find here intense love for San Francisco, a bit of Berkeley, somewhat of a photoblog, comic strip, quips, and public art. On that note, this is me. Hi.
